Colorado’s COVID hospitalizations stay on high plateau as virus’s trajectory remains uncertain

Colorado’s COVID-19 hospitalizations remain stuck at a high level and it’s not clear whether they can be expected to fall in the near future as the virus’s trajectory in the state continues to be uncertain.

Hospitalizations are essentially on a plateau, with 966 people receiving care for confirmed or suspected COVID-19 as of Monday afternoon. That number has bounced between 959 and 980 since Sept. 20, according to data from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Reeling Rockies lose to Nationals, drop fifth straight at Coors Field

The Rockies are limping toward the finish line and it ain’t pretty.

The rebuilding Washington Nationals (65-91) beat the Rockies 5-4 on Monday night at Coors Field, extending Colorado’s losing streak to five games as all-star pitcher German Marquez’s second-half slump continued.

“I feel good, it was a great season and I stayed healthy all year and that’s the best thing to me,” said Marquez, who pitched five innings in his final start of the season to finish 12-11 with a 4.40 ERA.

Ptarmigan fire forces evacuations in Summit County

A wildfire burning outside Silverthorne has prompted evacuations Monday evening, emergency management officials said.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office issued mandatory evacuations for the Hamilton Creek neighborhood, which contains roughly 291 homes, while Angler Mountain Ranch is under pre-evacuation notice.
