Gardeners, sow your seeds — but be prepared for unpredictable weather

Typically, Colorado gardeners wait until after Mother’s Day and the projected last frost to plant.

Now it’s time to sow some seeds.

But with the wet and chilly May we’ve had so far, it’s best to keep an eye on the weather and be ready to cover tender seedlings. If it’s not raining, use an old blanket or plastic, as long as it does not touch the plants.

If you are still working from home, you just might be able to save a few plants if — OK, when — it hails next. The only guarantee in Colorado gardening is that there’s no guarantee.

How you can still making summer camping reservations in Colorado

If you thought it was hard finding campsites last summer, it may be even tougher this year.

According to the North American Camping Report survey commissioned by Kampgrounds of America (KOA), the number of first-time campers last year was five times greater than the previous year, and 33% of those folks plan to camp more frequently this year. At KOA campgrounds specifically, reservations are up 100% over 2019, which was a record year, according to a news release.
