The opioid antidote: Naloxone has reversed hundreds of overdoses in Denver in the last year

Vernon Lewis grabbed the neighbor boy’s bicycle in the middle of the night and pedaled 4 miles down Denver streets to find the unconscious man under a bridge along the South Platte River.

The man’s girlfriend had called Lewis at 2:30 a.m. when her boyfriend overdosed on heroin, and as Lewis pumped down Alameda Avenue, he talked her through CPR. When Lewis found them, he reached for the syringe he carries in a pouch in his back pocket and plunged it through the man’s jacket and into the meat of his upper arm.

State regulators are investigating whether oil and gas operations near the Oak Meadows neighborhood in Firestone caused a home explosion that killed two men and severely injured a woman a week and a half ago.

Cap Hill mainstay Park Tavern reopens with a fresh look, new menu and impressive rooftop

You may remember the dimly lit, happy hour token-filled, beer-soaked days of Capitol Hill’s Park Tavern fondly. You can still make memories at the Cap Hill establishment, around now for 20 years, but they’ll be a bit more sunny and certainly more delicious.

The Park Tavern & Restaurant has reopened for business in phase one of the big reveal since its renovations that began Memorial Day weekend 2016. The bar (now where the dining room used to be) is colorful and bright, with tall new walls of windows and a center bar uplit with bright colors.
